What is the definition of Anti-Slip?

Anti-Slip is a term that is given to flooring along with a rating to measure its resistance when in contact with moving objects and water.

Why do we need Anti-Slip materials?

Slips, trips and falls account for 40% of injuries at work (20% resulted in more than 3 days off work) and 95% of major slips resulted in broken bones. Compensation is costing the UK a hefty £30 million a year , therefore employers and councils must ensure that they are following The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 (HSW Act). This Act requires employers to ensure the health and safety of all employees and anyone who may be affected by their work, so far as it is reasonably practicable. This includes taking steps to control slips and trips risks. Moving towards the autumn and winter months with expected rainfall and snow, it is better to be safe than sorry by implementing ways to create safer working environments and public places to eliminate costly slips and trips.

How is “Anti-Slip”measured?

The Pendulum Coefficient of Friction (CoF) Test is approved by the HSE for measuring the slip resistance of floor surfaces. It is designed to replicate a pedestrian heel strike, the point at which most slips occur. The test results are measured in PTV and are determined as follows:

The Solution?

Relinea’s GRP Anti- Slip Product range.

Relinea’s anti-slip range holds the highest friction factor for any walk-on surface minimising costly slips and trips in both working environments and public areas due to its extremely low pedestrian slip risk. Relinea offers its Re-Grip ULTRA anti-slip range for HIGH FOOTFALL applications, and the Re-Grip range for LOW FOOTFALL applications.

Relinea’s Pendulum Test Results:

Relinea’s Re-Grip ULTRA range is manufactured using EMBEDDED GRIT TECHNOLOGY, which provides a hard wearing and extreme slip resistant finish suitable for high footfall and harsh chemical applications.

Relinea’s GRP Anti-Slip products include:

High Footfall Applications

 Low Footfall Applications

It’s now time for companies and local authorities to begin taking measures to prevent costly slips and trips by means of creating safer workplaces and public areas.
