GRP Grating Products
Re-Grid GRP Grating is designed to provide safe, robust GRP Open Mesh Flooring Access for pedestrians on industrial walkways, catwalks, and over channels.
Re-Grate GRP Pultruded Grating is made up of a 70% glass to 30% resin ratio, and encompasses twice the stiffness of Re-Grid Moulded Grating, allowing it to span greater distances.
The Re-Deck GRP Solid Top Grating System is a moulded one-piece GRP Fibreglass Grating Flooring Product that combines our GRP Re-Plate with our Re-Grid Open Mesh Grating.
Incredible Anti-Slip Properties

With 95% of major slips resulting in broken bones, it’s no wonder that legislation exists to ensure that surfaces meet required slip resistance standards. Relinea is committed to ensuring that we always offer our customers the highest quality, safest, and most durable products. That’s why we carried out the pendulum test to ensure we are delivering the highest slip resistance possible.
Slip resistance testing is designed to assess flooring and calculate its slip risk in line with HSE Slip Resistance guidelines. By testing the slip resistance of our GRP grating surfaces, you can rest assured that your GRP flooring, walkways, and platforms conform to workplace regulations as required.
Under this testing, Relinea GRP Grating achieved an incredible score of 79 in the wet against the low slip threshold of 36, making it ideal for almost all flooring.

Relinea GRP Grating – Setting the Standard
At Relinea, we take immense pride in delivering products that meet and exceed industry expectations. Our GPR Grating has been meticulously engineered to adhere to the British and European Standards, a hallmark of excellence recognised worldwide. By complying with these standards, we assure you of a product that not only performs exceptionally but also ensures the safety of your environment. When you select Relinea GRP Grating, you’re not just purchasing a product – you’re investing in safety, durability, and reliability.
Standards we work to for GRP Grating:
Fire Rating
BS476 – 7 – Surface Spread of Flame Test
- The test produces a fire rating of Class 1, 2, 3 or 4 depending upon how far a flame travels over a coated surface. Class 1 is the best rating i.e. the lowest flame spread.
- All Relinea’s GRP grating is rated to Class 1.
BS EN 13501-1 – Fire classification of Construction products & building materials
- The maximum classification that GRP grating can meet is Bfl – s1 – d0
- Bfl – confirms the product is combustible but offers a very limited contribution to fire
- s1 – confirms the smoke intensity quantity/speed of emission is absent or weak
- d0 – confirms that there is no production of flaming droplets/particles during combustion
- Relinea can supply the maximum rated Bfl – s1 – d0 on request.
Loading & Deflection
BS4592 – Flooring, Stair Treads and handrails for industrial use
- General Duty 5 kN/m2 UDL and concentrated load over 200mm2 area 1.5 kN and a maximum deflection 10 mm or 1/200th of the span whichever is the lesser.
- Heavy duty 7.5 kN/m2 UDL and concentrated load over 200mm2 area 1.5 kN and a maximum deflection 10 mm or 1/200th of the span whichever is the lesser.
Please refer to our load tables for full information but as a guide the following open mesh Re-Grid GRP grating will meet the BS4592 standard for general duty at the following approximate spans:
- Re-Grid 2538 at 800 mm span
- Re-Grid 3838 at 1000 mm span
- Re-Grid 5050 at 1200mm span
- up to 1000 mm span 38 mm Re-Grid
Mesh Size
BS4592 – Flooring, Stair Treads and handrails for industrial use &
BS EN ISO 14122 – Safety of Machinery Permanent Means of Access To Machinery
- Both standards state that on platforms used for occasional use the maximum mesh opening is 35 mm diameter sphere. On platforms above where people are working the maximum opening size is 20 mm diameter sphere.
- Relinea’s standard Re-Grid would meet the 35 mm diameter sphere requirement. Our Mini Re-Grid and Re-Deck products would meet the 20 mm diameter sphere test.
Slip Resistance
BS 7976 – HSE approved standard for determining the slip resistance of pedestrian surfaces.
- HSE has adopted the pendulum test which is the subject of BS 7976 parts 1-3 for assessing floor slipperiness in both dry and contaminated conditions.
- The results are interpreted using pendulum test values (PTV). All Relinea’s gritted flooring products achieved above 90 PTV in dry conditions and above 72 in wet conditions under test.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) grating is a strong and lightweight composite material used for creating walkways, platforms, stair treads, and other structural elements. It’s made by combining plastic resin with fine glass fibers, resulting in a corrosion-resistant, non-conductive, and durable material.
GRP grating offers several advantages, including corrosion resistance, high strength-to-weight ratio, non-conductivity, low maintenance requirements, and slip resistance. It’s suitable for environments where traditional metal grating may corrode or degrade over time.
GRP grating is versatile and can be used in various applications such as industrial platforms, chemical processing plants, offshore and marine environments, walkways, bridges, water treatment facilities, and more. Its properties make it ideal for areas exposed to moisture, chemicals, and harsh conditions.
Consider factors such as the intended application, load requirements, environment, and required dimensions. We offer a range of GRP grating options with different load-bearing capacities, mesh sizes, and surface textures. Feel free to consult our customer support for personalized guidance.
Yes, GRP grating is relatively easy to install. It’s lightweight, which simplifies handling, and can be cut to size using standard hand tools such as saws and grinders.
Yes, our GRP grating products are designed with slip-resistant surfaces to enhance safety, especially in wet or oily environments. The open mesh design allows liquids to drain through, reducing the risk of slips and falls.
Yes, we offer customization options for GRP grating, including different sizes, colours, and load-bearing capabilities. Contact our sales team to discuss your specific requirements.
Power saw with a masonry or diamond blade for cement board products; use a circular saw for straight cuts, a jig saw for circular cuts. For large fabrication jobs, use a diamond grit blade.
Observe common safety precautions when using cutting tools. Always wear gloves when handling Relinea products. Wear approved safety glasses or goggles to protect your eyes and a respirator (mask) to reduce inhalation of dust. We recommend the use of dust masks rated to FFP3.
Dust from cutting GRP products can cause skin irritation. Wear clothing to reduce dust from coming into contact with skin.
Yes – Use a resin seal kit or acrylic spray to coat all cut or sanded surfaces. This is recommended to prevent corrosive chemicals from reaching exposed glass fibers.
