The Capital Dock Project in the Docklands area of Dublin is the largest single construction site built in Ireland. The development consists of 7 separate buildings ranging from 2 to 23 storeys with a mix of residential and commercial units.
The main contractor, Sisk, appointed Relinea to Design and Install all the Riser Flooring, Plant decking and Air Handing Unit (AHU) Access Platforms on the site.
Sisk were quick to see the advantages of using composite Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) Structural Products on this type of scheme.
Relinea’s RiserGuard System is a fully designed solution to flooring out service riser shaft to suit the layout of all services to be housed in any void whilst providing a safe platform for personnel to work on.
Relinea’s RiserGuards System used on the Capital Dock Development provided a safe work platform for all personnel as the whole Riser was covered and a fully supported sacrificial panels were used that could be easily removed by M&E contractors as they progressed up the building.
A design loading of 7.5kN/m2 was stipulated by the architect which was backed up by full design calculations and Anchor specifications. Our design had to be adapted to suit a reinforced concrete floor used in the residential block and the steel frame with composite deck flooring used in the commercial block. All drawings were provided in 3D.
We worked closely with the M&E Contractors on the site to ensure that the RiserGuard System was installed in the correct configuration to suit the services. This significantly reduced the input required by Sisk.
In addition to the relinea Riser Flooring on all buildings we also designed AHU Units and provided plat decking. The use of GRP was considered ideal in this environment due to the exposed nature of the site.
Our highly experienced installation team were supported by a Contracts Manager, who liaised with Sisk and the M&E Contractors to ensure smooth progress throughout the 24 month contract.
Our installation team hold Safe Pass (CSR) Accreditation, manual handling, working at height and abrasive wheels certification as standard. Whilst our senior members hold Site Management Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificates.
Also during this project our team completed Behavioural Based Safety (BSB) training, attended daily white board meetings and regular toolbox talks.

Anchor Pull Out Tests
With out own fully qualified Construction Fixings Association (CFA) approved tester, Relinea was able to provide testing of 10% of all anchors on site which was uploaded to the Sisk Quality Management System.
Building Control Amendment Regulations (BCAR)
Relinea was responsible for the design of all elements of its work. Therefore, we supported Sisk in the provision of all documentation to ensure adherence to Building Control Regulations.
Inspection and Test Guidance Reports (ITP)
Relinea were required to provide an ITP report for each area of work that included Anchor Test Reports and Pull Out Tests, drawings, calculations and uploading of completed work photos to Sisk Quality Management System.
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)
Capital Dock is a Gold rated LEED scheme. This is a national certification by the U.S Green Building Council which encourages that construction of energy and resource efficient buildings that are healthy to live in.
Relinea has supported Sisk in working this award by providing our Environmental Plan and regular reports on waste management details, materials inventory schedule, hazardous substances approval register and VOC register.
