Problem/Challenge

The challenge posed by this project was the material that was required was to be chemical resistant due to the possibility of chemical spill in the treatment area. There was large electrical equipment required to be placed on the grating, so the product had to meet the load requirements.

The installation required the grating to be cut onsite to fit around plant and equipment.

Solution

Relinea were subcontracted by Ros-shire Engineering and Scottish Water to design, supply and install a system that would solve the corrosive issue that they faced.

The vinylester grating was installed around the bund and tank platforms and due to the intracity of the project using GRP instead of steel meant that the grating could be cut onsite to suit, reducing install time and therefore cost.

The corrosive resistant properties of the vinylester GRP future proofs the site and helps resist the possible attack of the highly corrosive environment. Using GRP instead of steel also reduces maintenance costs and therefore lowers the lifecycle costs of the product.

In addition to the bund area grating Relinea supplied and installed a GRP staircase which allowed access from the old building to the new area.
