The Grangegorman Campus is a new development that will bring together the activities for the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) in one location and is the largest PPP (Public-Private Partnership) in Ireland. The main contractor is Sisk FCC, a joint venture between John Sisk & Son and the Spanish construction company FCC Construction. Sisk appointed Relinea initially to supply and install the GRP RiserGuard flooring system in the Central and East Quad.

Problem/Challenge

Sisk wanted to use Relinea’s RiserGuard to floor riser voids early in the programme taking advantage of a number of benefits the system can offer.

These included:

Avoiding the need for the provision of costly and potentially hazardous barriers and edge protection.
Providing a system that was integrated with M&E, reducing their installation costs.

Solution

Relinea’s RiserGuard system has been designed to suit a variety of floor layouts and in conjunction with our in-house design team, we can adapt our standard designs to suit specific requirements on site.

Coordinating with the M&E contractor, ensured that we installed a flooring system that provided them with a safe working platform whilst incorporating lift-out panels that match the riser layout avoiding the need for remedial fabrication on-site, significantly reducing temporary scaffold and installation costs.

As a result of a successful installation of the GRP RiserGuard flooring in Central and East Quad, Sisk appointed Relinea to supply the Roof Top access platforms which are detailed in a separate case study.
