GRP Grating
Anti-Slip Fibreglass Grating for Industrial Walkways, Platforms & Trench Covers
GRP grating (Glass Reinforced Plastic grating), also known as fibreglass grating, is a high-performance alternative to traditional steel grating used across industrial, commercial, and infrastructure environments. Designed to deliver exceptional corrosion resistance, high strength-to-weight ratio, and superior slip resistance, GRP grating is widely used in applications where safety, durability, and low maintenance are critical.
At Relinea, we supply a complete range of GRP grating panels including open mesh, mini mesh, solid top, and pultruded grating systems. Our products are engineered for long-term performance in harsh environments such as data centres, water treatment facilities, chemical plants, offshore platforms, and rooftop access systems.
Â
What Is GRP Grating?
GRP grating is a composite material made from a combination of glass fibres and thermosetting resins. These materials are moulded or pultruded to create a rigid, load-bearing grid structure that provides excellent mechanical strength while remaining lightweight.
Unlike steel, GRP does not corrode, rot, or degrade when exposed to moisture, chemicals, or extreme weather conditions. This makes it an ideal solution for environments where traditional materials fail or require ongoing maintenance.
Â
Types of GRP Grating
We offer a comprehensive range of GRP grating solutions to suit different applications:
Open Mesh GRP Grating
The most common type, featuring a grid pattern that allows water, debris, and light to pass through. Ideal for walkways, platforms, and access structures.
Mini Mesh GRP Grating
Designed with smaller apertures to prevent objects from falling through. Suitable for public areas, pedestrian walkways, and safety-critical environments.
Solid Top GRP Grating
A flat, covered surface that provides complete coverage while maintaining strength. Commonly used for trench covers and areas requiring containment.
Pultruded Grating
The uni-directional strength of our Re-Grid GRP Pultruded Grating allows it to withstand a high load capacity. Due to its outstanding rigidity, it can be used with certainty where wide support spans are needed.
Â
GRP Grating for Safety & Compliance
GRP grating is widely used in environments where safety is critical.
- Anti-slip surfaces reduce risk of slips and falls
- Fire-retardant options improve safety in hazardous environments
- Non-conductive properties enhance electrical safety
- High visibility options improve awareness in low-light areas
All products can be specified to meet relevant industry standards and project requirements.

End-to-End GRP Grating Solutions
GRP Grating Products
Re-Grid GRP Grating is designed to provide safe, robust GRP Open Mesh Flooring Access for pedestrians on industrial walkways, catwalks, and over channels.
Re-Grate GRP Pultruded Grating is made up of a 70% glass to 30% resin ratio, and encompasses twice the stiffness of Re-Grid Moulded Grating, allowing it to span greater distances.
The Re-Deck GRP Solid Top Grating System is a moulded one-piece GRP Fibreglass Grating Flooring Product that combines our GRP Re-Plate with our Re-Grid Open Mesh Grating.
Our range of Composite trench covers which can be used in conjunction with our grp grating provides safe and secure access to pumps, cables and dry wells.
Relinea’s D400 GRP Trench Covers and Gully Grids are the ultimate solution for heavy-duty drainage requirements in high-traffic areas.
Our Heavy Duty Solid Top Trench Cover is a sealed, non-draining cover designed for strength, security, and debris prevention. Now available in four load ratings. cases.
Incredible Anti-Slip Properties
With 95% of major slips resulting in broken bones, it’s no wonder that legislation exists to ensure that surfaces meet required slip resistance standards. Relinea is committed to ensuring that we always offer our customers the highest quality, safest, and most durable products. That’s why we carried out the pendulum test to ensure we are delivering the highest slip resistance possible.
Slip resistance testing is designed to assess flooring and calculate its slip risk in line with HSE Slip Resistance guidelines. By testing the slip resistance of our GRP grating surfaces, you can rest assured that your GRP flooring, walkways, and platforms conform to workplace regulations as required.
Under this testing, Relinea GRP Grating achieved an incredible score of 79 in the wet against the low slip threshold of 36, making it ideal for almost all flooring.

Frequently Asked Questions:
GRP grating panels are Glass Reinforced Plastic (fibreglass) grating solutions used for industrial and commercial flooring, walkways, platforms, ramps, and access covers. They are designed to be lightweight yet strong, corrosion-resistant, and have excellent slip-resistance compared with traditional steel grating.
Relinea’s grating panels are manufactured from high-quality Glass Reinforced Plastic, combining fibreglass and resin to deliver superior durability, corrosion resistance, and long-term performance even in aggressive environments.
Relinea provides a range of GRP grating panel types, including:
Open mesh grating – ideal for drainage and ventilated flooring areas.
Mini-mesh grating – enhanced safety with smaller mesh openings.
Solid top grating – for applications requiring solid covers or anti-fall surfaces.
Pultruded grating – high stiffness panels suitable for larger spans.
Yes. Relinea’s GRP gratings are engineered with anti-slip finishes that meet health and safety standards, providing exceptional grip even when wet, helping reduce slips and falls in high-traffic areas.
Absolutely. The inherent corrosion and chemical resistance of GRP makes these panels suitable for harsh environments where steel or aluminium would deteriorate rapidly, including chemical plants and wastewater facilities.
Relinea’s GRP panels are designed with a 50+ year design life, offering long-term durability and performance with very low maintenance compared to traditional materials like steel or wood.
No. One of the major advantages of GRP grating is minimal maintenance, regular cleaning and occasional inspections are all that’s typically required, as the material won’t rust or degrade over time.
Consider:
Load and span requirements
Slip-resistance and safety standards
Environmental exposure (corrosion/chemicals)
Mesh type (open, mini, solid top)
Relinea’s product guides and expert team can help specify the most suitable panel type for your application.
